Amherst Youth Soccer Association REC RULES Spring 2008
**These rules are NON-NEGOTIABLE and are not to be deviated from**
K / 1 Division: · 4 v 4, no goalie · 30 minute practice prior to games · 20 minute 1st half, 10 minute halftime, 20 minute 2nd half · NO SLIDING, minimal shoulder contact allowed – coaches use conservative discretion · Substitute on any stoppage of play for either team · Allow kids the chance to do “throw-ins” as best they can · Coaches “referee” · Size # 3 ball – all players need to bring their own #3 ball · Have fun!
2 / 3 Division: · 5 v 5, including goalie · 30 minute practice prior to games · 2, 20 minute halves, 10 minute halftime · 2 referees, one representative per team · 2 chances on throw-ins allowed · Substitutions allowed on any stoppage of play for either team · NO Sliding - very minimal shoulder contact allowed – coaches use conservative discretion · Size # 3 ball – all players need to bring their own #3 ball · Have fun!
4 / 5 Division: · 7 v 7 or 8 v 8 maximum · 2, 25 minute halves, 10 minute halftime · Practices TBD by the coaches · Regular soccer rules apply, to include offsides · Formal refereeing · Substitution on YOUR throw-ins and ANY goal kick · 4/5 girls division substitute on any stoppage of play · Slide tackling prohibited · Size # 4 ball – all players need to bring their own #4 ball · Have fun!
6 - 8 co-ed division 6 - 9 girls division: · 7 v 7, 8 v 8, or 9 v 9 maximum, depending on # of players · 2, 35 minute halves, 10 minute halftime · Regular soccer rules apply, to include offsides · Formal refereeing · Substitutions on YOUR team’s thrown-ins or ANY team’s goal kick. · Coaches and teams on one side of the field, parents and spectators on the other side of the field. · Size # 4 ball or Size #5 ball – all players need to bring their own ball · Have fun!
