 Travel Soccer Tryout Policies: Fall 2010 and Spring 2011

I.  Players must tryout with their age group.

Exceptions:

1. Players who are currently “playing up” on a travel team may tryout for the next age group up.

2. Players may play up in order to accommodate playing with their grade level.

Please note:  Players who decide to tryout to “play up” an age bracket based on these exceptions that aren’t selected for that team will not be offered a spot on the team in the younger age bracket.

Director of Coaching and Player Development will be notified of all players playing up.

II.  Priority will be given to Amherst players (per AYSA, defined as any child attending an Amherst-Pelham Regional School) for travel team selection.  Non-Amherst based players will have every opportunity to be evaluated in an unbiased manner and are welcome to tryout for an AYSA travel soccer team.  However, Amherst players will receive first priority for Amherst travel teams when rosters are formulated.  Remaining open spots for travel teams will be given to non-Amherst players that have been selected by the coaches. 

Please note: The AYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development will make final decisions on player placement, after consultation with coaches, should indecision or conflict arise.

III. Travel soccer is a more competitive atmosphere than AYSA recreational soccer.  Players are not guaranteed equal playing time.

IV. Travel soccer is a HUGE commitment.  Please be advised that there are typically 2 games per week, along with 1 or 2 practices per week.  Opponents consist of teams throughout the entire Pioneer Valley.  Please be prepared to meet these commitment levels prior to attending tryouts.  If you are unable to commit, please do not tryout and take up a valuable roster spot that another child could have.

V. Travel soccer will cost $110 in registration fees, $50 in uniform fees, $5 Town of Amherst field fee, and approximately $25-50 in equipment expenses. 

VI. Completion of “Travel Soccer Pre-Registration Form” is MANDATORY

Deadline to turn in the pre-registration form is Saturday, May 29, 2010

VII.  This is a competitive travel soccer tryout process.  If you are opposed children potentially not being selected for a team, PLEASE do not attend tryouts.

2010-2011 Travel Soccer Age Brackets:

U-9 – Born on or after August 1, 2001

U-10 – Born on or after August 1, 2000

U-11 – Born on or after August 1, 1999

U-12 – Born on or after August 1, 1998

U-13 – Born on or after August 1, 1997

U-14 – Born on or after August 1, 1996
